  • NASA's SPHEREx (Spectro-Photometer for the History of the Universe, Epoch of Reionization, and Ices Explorer) is an all-sky infrared survey mission, scheduled for launch in February 2025, mapping the sky in 102 infrared colors.
  • The mission is managed by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), built by BAE Systems, and has a budget of $488 million, significantly lower than the $10 billion JWST.
