NASA's SPHEREx (Spectro-Photometer for the History of the Universe, Epoch of Reionization, and Ices Explorer) is an all-sky infrared survey mission, scheduled for launch in February 2025, mapping the sky in 102 infrared colors.
The mission is managed by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), built by BAE Systems, and has a budget of $488 million, significantly lower than the $10 billion JWST.
