  • The Ministry of Coal will organise a Stakeholder Consultation on “Atmanirbhar Bharat: Coal for Energy Security” and launch the 15th Round of Commercial Coal Mine Auctions on 17 April 2026 in Mumbai.
  • The event will be graced by Shri Vikram Dev Dutt, Secretary, Ministry of Coal, as the Chief Guest.
  • The 15th round offers fully explored and partially explored coal blocks under liberal terms to promote ease of doing business and attract wider investments.
  • It aims to encourage participation from experienced miners, new entrants, and technology-driven companies.
  • Since 2020, commercial coal auctions have boosted domestic production, reduced import dependence, and strengthened India’s energy security under the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.
  • The initiative will further enhance coal availability, generate employment, foster competition, and support sustainable growth in the sector.
