Indian Grandmaster D Gukesh won the title by defeating China's Ding Liren in the 14th and final round of the World Chess Championship on 12 December 2024.
He became the youngest world chess champion by defeating Liren. At the age of 18, he made history.
After 12 years, an Indian has managed to capture this title.
