Shanghai City of China has opened two new metro lines, maintaining its position as the city with the world's largest metro network.
The new lines have increased the total length of Shanghai's subway network to 831 km, making it the longest subway line in the world.
Shanghai, China, has inaugurated two new metro lines: Line 14 and Phase One of Line 18.
The two additional lines will raise Shanghai's total number of completely automated metro lines to five, with a total operating length of 167 kilometres, putting it first in the world for the first time.
The city will now have 20 metro lines and 508 stations, of which 83 are transfer stations.
