  • Shanghai City of China has opened two new metro lines, maintaining its position as the city with the world's largest metro network.
  • The new lines have increased the total length of Shanghai's subway network to 831 km, making it the longest subway line in the world.
  • Shanghai, China, has inaugurated two new metro lines: Line 14 and Phase One of Line 18.
  • The two additional lines will raise Shanghai's total number of completely automated metro lines to five, with a total operating length of 167 kilometres, putting it first in the world for the first time.
  • The city will now have 20 metro lines and 508 stations, of which 83 are transfer stations.
