  • In a historic milestone, India has been awarded the hosting rights for the 2028 World Indoor Athletics Championships. The event will take place at the state-of-the-art indoor facility within the Kalinga Stadium complex in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. This marks the first time India will host this prestigious global track and field competition.
  • The decision by the World Athletics Council reflects India’s growing stature in international sports and its robust infrastructure. The championships feature 26 events, including the newly introduced 4×400m mixed relay, and are expected to significantly boost grassroots athletics participation and India’s global sporting profile.
