Every year on January 4th, World Braille Day is observed.
This day commemorates the birth anniversary of Louis Braille, who invented the Braille script for the visually impaired.
The day has been marked by the United Nations since 2019.
Braille is a tactile script that uses six dots to denote each letter and number, as well as musical, mathematical, and scientific symbols.
People who are partially sighted or blind use this language to read books and magazines.
Prior to Braille, people with visual impairments read using the Haüy system, which involved embossing Latin letters on leather or thick paper.
