  • Vice Admiral Aarti Sarin was appointed as the next Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services. She is the first woman to be appointed to this post.
  • She has become the first woman officer to be appointed as the chief of DGAFMS.
  • Prior to assuming office as the 46th chief of DGAFMS, Vice Admiral Sarin served as Director General of Medical Services in the Navy and Air Force and as Director and Commandant of the Armed Forces Medical College in Pune. He was commissioned in 1985.
