Indian Railways has initiated a nationwide plan to install CCTV surveillance in all 74,000 passenger coaches, including 15,000 locomotives, to bolster passenger safety. Each coach will have four dome-type cameras positioned at entry points. Locomotives will be fitted with six cameras covering the front, rear, and sides. Driver cabins will include dome cameras and desk-mounted microphones. The move follows a successful trial in the Northern Railway zone.
