  • The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has notified the National Highways Fee (Fourth Amendment) Rules, 2026.
  • The new rules come into force from 15 April 2026.
  • Overloading fees: No fee up to 10% excess; 2 times base rate for 10-40%; 4 times for above 40%.
  • Overloading will be determined only through certified weighment facilities; fees to be collected via FASTag only.
  • The amendment aims to improve road safety, reduce infrastructure damage, and promote compliance.
