Nitish Kumar resigned as Chief Minister of Bihar on April 14, 2026, ending his two-decade-long dominance in state politics.
He dissolved the Council of Ministers in the final cabinet meeting.
Current Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary will take oath as the new Chief Minister.
This marks the first time a BJP leader will become Chief Minister of Bihar.
Nitish Kumar will now enter Rajya Sabha, having served in Lok Sabha, Bihar Assembly, and Legislative Council.
