World No. 6 Spanish player Rafael Nadal has clinched his 89th career title by defeating American qualifier Maxime Cressy 7-6, 6-3 in 1 hour 44 minutes in the final of the Summer Set tournament in Melbourne.
He has won at least one singles title every year for the last 19 years.
Romania's Simona Halep defeated Russia's Veronika Kudermetova 6-2, 6-3 to become the women's champion. This is his first title in Australia and 23rd career title.
