President Droupadi Murmu became the second Indian President to undertake an operational submarine sortie, embarking aboard INS Vaghsheer from the Karwar Naval Base off India’s western coast. The Kalvari-class submarine, inducted under Project-75, reflects India’s growing indigenous naval strength. Accompanied by the Chief of Naval Staff, the President’s voyage highlighted civilian–military integration and underscored India’s enhanced underwater warfare capabilities under the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.
