Prime Minister Narendra Modi has surpassed the late Indira Gandhi’s record of 4,077 consecutive days in office by completing 4,078 uninterrupted days as of July 25, 2025. This milestone places him as the second longest-serving PM in Indian history, behind only Jawaharlal Nehru. Modi is also the first PM born after Independence, the longest-serving Prime Minister from a non-Hindi-speaking state, and the longest-serving non-Congress Prime Minister.
