The revised 2025–26 Class 8 NCERT social science textbook, Exploring Society: India and Beyond, sheds light on how European colonial powers, especially Britain, systematically looted India’s resources. Chapter 4 cites historian Will Durant’s phrase “stolen wealth from India” and connects it to funding Britain’s Industrial Revolution. Michel Danino, NCERT’s curriculum lead, states that British rule focused on plunder, cultural imposition, and religious conversion.
