The Central government has notified the appointment of Justice N Kotiswar Singh as the acting Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, effective from January 12.
Justice Singh's appointment will come into effect following the retirement of Chief Justice RM Chhaya.
In May 2022, Justice Kotiswar Singh was appointed as the Acting Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court following the elevation of the then Chief Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia to Supreme Court.
High court judges retires at the age of 62 years, while Supreme Court judges retire at the age of 65.
