  • The Central government has notified the appointment of Justice N Kotiswar Singh as the acting Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, effective from January 12.
  • Justice Singh's appointment will come into effect following the retirement of Chief Justice RM Chhaya.
  • In May 2022, Justice Kotiswar Singh was appointed as the Acting Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court following the elevation of the then Chief Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia to Supreme Court.
