  • NASA and JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) are preparing to launch the world's first wooden satellite into orbit. This satellite, called Lignosat, is in the shape of a coffee mug and will be launched into Earth's orbit by the summer of 2024.
  • This wooden satellite has been constructed by researchers from Kyoto University. This satellite has a diameter of about 10 centimeters and weighs about 330 grams.
  • This satellite is made of magnolia wood, which has been found to be very stable and resistant during tests.
  • The main purpose of lignosat is to serve as a common and specialized medium in space for scientific research.
