India celebrates Army Day every year on 15 January with great enthusiasm. It is celebrated in the memory of Field Marshal Kodandera Madappa Cariappa (KM Cariappa), who was the Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army.
Every year, the day is marked by conducting a military parade and several other martial performances at the Cariappa Parade Ground in Delhi Cantonment.
This year the 74th Army Day of the Indian Army is being celebrated.
This day is also marked to pay tributes to the troops who have given their lives for the nation.
