  • India celebrates Army Day every year on 15 January with great enthusiasm. It is celebrated in the memory of Field Marshal Kodandera Madappa Cariappa (KM Cariappa), who was the Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army.
  • Every year, the day is marked by conducting a military parade and several other martial performances at the Cariappa Parade Ground in Delhi Cantonment.
  • This year the 74th Army Day of the Indian Army is being celebrated.
  • This day is also marked to pay tributes to the troops who have given their lives for the nation.
