  • The kit is manufactured by Tata Medical and Diagnostics and is named ‘OmiSure’.
  • The kit will be used to confirm the Omicron in patients with its S-Gene Target Failure (SGTF) strategy.
  • The kit currently being used in India to detect Omicron has been developed by Thermo Fisher, a US-based scientific instrument company.
  • The 'OmiSure' test kit will work like any other RT-PCR test kit. A swab will also be taken from the nose or mouth for testing with this kit.
