  • Deepak Gupta took charge as Chairman and Managing Director of GAIL (India) Limited on March 1, 2026, succeeding Sandeep Kumar Gupta, who retired on February 28. His tenure will run until February 28, 2029. A mechanical engineer from Delhi College of Engineering, Gupta brings decades of experience in natural gas transmission, LNG infrastructure, and project management to India’s largest gas transmission and marketing company.
  • Gupta has led major projects including Dabhol LNG breakwater, HMEL petrochemical complex, Pata petrochemical expansion, and international ventures such as Mongolia’s greenfield refinery. He also spearheaded digital transformation initiatives and global procurement strategies, strengthening operational efficiency at GAIL.
  • GAIL, a Maharatna PSU established in 1984 under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, operates one of India’s largest gas pipeline networks. Gupta’s leadership is expected to drive India’s energy infrastructure expansion and support the government’s target of increasing natural gas share to 15% by 2030.
