China's Shenzhou 18 mission marks the seventh crewed expedition to the Tiangong space station, continuing the country's ambitious efforts in space exploration and station construction.
Commanded by Ye Guangfu, a seasoned astronaut who previously participated in the Shenzhou 13 mission (2021-2022), the crew comprises two rookie space travelers, fighter pilots Li Cong and Li Guangsu, demonstrating China's commitment to nurturing new talent for its space program.
The Tiangong space station's construction began in 2021 and reached a significant milestone with the completion of the T-shaped, three-module facility in late 2022, showcasing China's progress in establishing a permanent human presence in Earth's orbit.
