US Congress Lifts Sanctions on Syria, Signals Policy Reset

The US Congress has voted to permanently repeal sanctions on Syria by ending the 2019 Caesar Syria Civilian Protection Act, marking a major shift in Washington’s policy. Passed by a 77–20 Senate vote, the move reflects warming ties with interim President Ahmad al-Sharaa’s government.
