The Department of Posts transported a Thanjavur painting of Lord Ram from Bengaluru to Ayodhya, highlighting India’s rich cultural heritage. Originating from Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, this classical art form, also called Palagai Padam, is crafted on wooden planks and adorned with glass beads, semi-precious stones, vibrant natural colors, and gold foil for a three-dimensional effect. Flourishing under Chola, Nayak, and Maratha rulers, Thanjavur paintings are renowned for their lavish depictions of deities and hold a Geographical Indications (GI) tag.
