Sudan has officially agreed to allow Russia to establish its first naval base on the Red Sea coast, providing Moscow with a strategic military and logistical foothold on a vital maritime trade route. The announcement came during Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Youssef Ahmed al-Sharif’s visit to Moscow, where he met Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Al-Sharif confirmed that after years of negotiations, both countries are in full agreement on the deal, with no remaining obstacles to its implementation.
