On National Milk Day 2025, the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying released the Basic Animal Husbandry Statistics (BAHS) 2025 at New Delhi. The report, based on the Integrated Sample Survey (1 March 2024 – 29 Feb 2025), presents comprehensive data on India’s milk, egg, meat, and wool production. India retains the top global rank in milk production (247.87 million tonnes) and second in egg production (149.11 billion eggs). The report also details per-capita availability, state-wise contributions, livestock numbers, and infrastructure, supporting policy formulation and sustainable livestock development.
