The 'One Nation, One Election' bill was approved in the cabinet meeting held on 12 December 2024 under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Bill is likely to be introduced in this winter session of Parliament.
The 18,000-page report outlined a phased approach to simultaneous elections, starting with the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, followed by local body elections within 100 days.
