French President Emmanuel Macron appointed Michel Barnier as the new Prime Minister of the country.
Michel Barnier, aged 73, becomes France's oldest Prime Minister in modern history, succeeding Gabriel Attal, who was the youngest PM. Barnier previously led the EU's Brexit negotiations from 2016 to 2021.
