Meghalaya has unveiled its first Northeast India Organic Week, a four-day showcase designed to propel the state and the region into the global organic marketplace. Organized by the state agriculture department with APEDA, the Union Commerce Ministry and IFOAM-Organics Asia, the event brings together buyers and delegations from 13 countries for high-value market linkages. Meghalaya is highlighting its biodiversity-powered organic strengths—ginger, turmeric, fruits and niche spices—while APEDA’s buyer-seller meet accelerates export prospects. Alongside the 4th IFOAM World Organic Youth Summit, the initiative also energises young leaders to champion sustainable farming and expand the region’s organic entrepreneurship.
