Category : International Published on: December 31 2025
Israel has officially recognized Somaliland as an independent and sovereign state, becoming the first country to do so. The decision, linked to the Abraham Accords, was welcomed by Somaliland’s President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, who expressed intent to cooperate in agriculture, health, technology, and economic development. Somalia, the African Union, and Egypt condemned the move, citing threats to regional stability and sovereignty. The recognition could reshape Horn of Africa geopolitics and expand Israel’s diplomatic and strategic presence in the region.
