The UN General Assembly adopted the United Nations Convention against Corruption on 31 October 2003 and appointed UNODC as the secretariat for the Convention’s Conference of States Parties. In resolution 58/4, it also proclaimed 9 December as International Anti-Corruption Day to promote awareness about corruption and the Convention’s role in preventing and tackling it. The Convention entered into force in December 2005.
