Daily Current Affairs / India Tops Global Air Pollution Rankings
Category : National Published on: October 31 2025
In a concerning development, all of the world’s top 40 most polluted cities today are located in India, underscoring the country’s deepening air quality crisis. Sri Ganganagar (Rajasthan) recorded the worst AQI globally at 830, followed by Siwani (Haryana) with an AQI of 676 — both far beyond hazardous levels. Interestingly, Delhi, often seen as the pollution benchmark, did not feature among the top 10 most polluted cities this time, revealing that smaller towns are now facing even more severe smog conditions. Experts warn that AQI levels above 300 pose serious health threats, and the current figures signal an alarming environmental and public health emergency across northern India.
