India is set to inaugurate the National Coral Reef Research Institute (NCRRI) at Chidiyatapu in South Andaman, a ₹120-crore initiative to deepen scientific understanding of coral ecosystems and bolster climate resilience. The centre will serve as the national hub for reef research, monitoring, and restoration under the Environment Ministry. With advanced facilities for biodiversity studies, the institute aims to strengthen coastal protection, document fragile marine life, and expand public engagement in conservation across the archipelago.
