The Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Index 2025/26 by Georgetown University and PRIO ranks 181 countries based on inclusion, justice, and security for women. Denmark tops the index, followed by Iceland and Norway, while Afghanistan ranks last. India is positioned at 131st with a score of 0.607, reflecting gradual but uneven improvements in women’s status. The United States rose from 37th to 31st, driven by better maternal health. Globally, 676 million women were exposed to conflict, marking a 74% rise since 2010, highlighting persistent challenges for women worldwide.
