India has opened the historic Cho La and Dok La passes in Sikkim for battlefield tourism under the Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan initiative. Flagged off by Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, the initiative allows citizens to visit historic war zones, including sites of the 1967 and 2017 clashes with China. Part of the Vibrant Village Programme, it aims to promote border tourism, create livelihoods for local communities, and honour the sacrifices of armed forces, with coordinated efforts by the Army and Ministry of Tourism.
