India has introduced new BIS standards (IS 19321:2025) for NavIC receivers, ensuring high-quality, accurate, and reliable performance of devices using India’s indigenous navigation system developed by ISRO. Released in October 2025, these standards mark a major step toward technological self-reliance. They set benchmarks for 1.5-meter accuracy, 50-nanosecond timing precision, and support for L5 and S-band signals. This move strengthens India’s position among global navigation powers and boosts the adoption of NavIC across smartphones, vehicles, and disaster management systems.
