India Assumes BRICS Presidency from Brazil

Brazil officially handed over the BRICS presidency to India during the 4th Sherpas Meeting, marking India’s leadership of the bloc in 2026. The symbolic Amazon gavel was presented to India’s Sherpa Ambassador Sudhakar Dalela. Under India’s presidency, BRICS will focus on climate resilience, responsible AI, scientific collaboration, and global governance reforms, including UN Security Council reform. The transition underscores the bloc’s commitment to sustainable development, innovation, and cooperation among Global South nations.
