The International Monetary Fund (IMF), in its 2025 annual staff report, retained a C-grade for India’s national account statistics, citing issues such as the outdated 2011–12 base year, discrepancies between GDP measurement methods, missing seasonally adjusted data, and gaps in capturing the informal sector. While other domains like CPI and external sector statistics received better grades, challenges remain. Meanwhile, MoSPI reported 8.2% GDP growth for July–September 2025 and announced a shift to a new 2022–23 base year by early 2026.
