The Indian Air Force Southern Air Command conducted a high-tempo joint maritime exercise, ‘Kalari Leap’, across the Lakshadweep and Minicoy archipelago. The drill focused on joint planning, rapid force projection and precision operations in complex maritime environments, highlighting India’s emphasis on integrated island defence.
It involved coordinated operations with the Armed Forces Special Operations Division and the Indian Coast Guard. Anti-ship strike simulations and search-and-rescue missions tested interoperability among air and maritime forces. Multi-domain assets, including IAF aircraft, Coast Guard ships, Gemini boats and Dornier 228 aircraft, were deployed to validate surveillance, strike and humanitarian response capabilities.
