A 16-year-old girl from the Juang tribe, a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) in Odisha’s Keonjhar and Dhenkanal districts, has influenced her village to rethink practices related to child health and child marriage. The Juangs traditionally depend on hunting, gathering, and basket-weaving.
They speak the Juang language of the Austroasiatic (Munda) family and follow animistic beliefs with the sun god as the supreme deity. Her efforts highlight the role of youth in driving progressive change and awareness within vulnerable tribal communities.
