Daily Current Affairs / Hanoi Becomes World’s Second Most Polluted City
Category : International Published on: December 13 2025
Hanoi has emerged as the world’s second most polluted city, after New Delhi, following over a week of dense smog and hazardous air conditions. PM2.5 levels have far exceeded WHO limits, causing respiratory issues and health risks, especially for infants and vulnerable groups. Authorities have advised limiting outdoor activities and allowing school closures. Pollution stems from traffic emissions, construction dust, and stagnant weather. The crisis underscores the urgent need for stricter emissions control, cleaner transport, and urban planning reforms in the Vietnamese capital.
