Daily Current Affairs / Gavi and UNICEF Cut Malaria Vaccine Price
Category : International Published on: November 27 2025
Global vaccine alliance Gavi and UNICEF signed a deal to reduce the price of the R21 malaria vaccine by 25%, from $4 to $2.99 per dose. The move will save $90 million and allow purchase of 30 million extra doses, protecting nearly 7 million more children over five years. Each child requires four doses costing $11.96. Despite funding cuts, both organizations aim to expand access to life-saving vaccines in low-income countries, fighting malaria that kills over 500,000 children annually.
