Category : National Published on: October 04 2025
The ‘Gaj Rakshak’ mobile app has been launched in Madhya Pradesh’s Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve to monitor the growing elephant population and reduce human-elephant conflicts. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurated the app in Bhopal on World Tiger Day. The app tracks elephants’ real-time location and movements, sending alerts to nearby villages and forest officials to prevent potential conflicts. It includes features like offline mode, SMS, voice calls, and sirens. Apart from Bandhavgarh, the app will also be implemented in other tiger reserves and forest areas. According to wildlife experts, the elephant population here has increased from 40 to around 65. This initiative is expected to promote human-wildlife coexistence and aid environmental conservation.
