  • The Union Government has launched the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme to redevelop 1338 railway stations across India.
  • In Delhi, 13 major stations including New Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Delhi Junction and Anand Vihar are being upgraded.
  • Passengers will get modern facilities like better waiting areas, lifts, escalators, digital signage and executive lounges.
  • Stations will be developed as multi-modal hubs with better connectivity to metro and bus services.
  • The scheme focuses on sustainability with energy-efficient systems, ballast-less tracks and improved waste management.
  • ‘One Station One Product’ initiative will promote local handicrafts and the economy.
