The Union Government has launched the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme to redevelop 1338 railway stations across India.
In Delhi, 13 major stations including New Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Delhi Junction and Anand Vihar are being upgraded.
Passengers will get modern facilities like better waiting areas, lifts, escalators, digital signage and executive lounges.
Stations will be developed as multi-modal hubs with better connectivity to metro and bus services.
The scheme focuses on sustainability with energy-efficient systems, ballast-less tracks and improved waste management.
‘One Station One Product’ initiative will promote local handicrafts and the economy.
