India conducted a key maritime security exercise under the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) at Kochi.
Naval representatives from 12 countries including Bangladesh, France, Indonesia, Maldives, Sri Lanka and others participated.
The simulated exercise focused on piracy, trafficking, disaster response and maritime domain awareness.
India assumed the IONS chairmanship for the 2026-2028 term after a gap of 16 years.
The event strengthens regional cooperation and highlights India’s growing leadership in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
Kochi, home to the Southern Naval Command, hosted the important exercise.
