  • Former IAS officer Amit Khare has been appointed as Prime Minister Narendra Modi's advisor. He has been appointed as Secretary to the Government of India for a period of two years.
  • Khare is a Bihar/Jharkhand cadre officer from the 1985 batch. In December 2019, he was appointed Secretary, Ministry of Education (Department of Higher Education).
  • On July 29, 2020, the cabinet approved the National Education Policy 2020, which he oversaw.
