The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the construction of the 1720 MW Kamala Hydro Electric Project in Kamle, Kra Daadi, and Kurung Kumey districts of Arunachal Pradesh with an outlay of ₹26,069.50 crore. To be implemented by a Joint Venture of NHPC and the State Government, the project is expected to generate 6870 MU of energy annually.
It will provide 12% free power to Arunachal Pradesh, support flood moderation in the Brahmaputra valley, and bring major infrastructure development including roads, bridges, hospitals, and schools to the region.
