Former IAS officer Amit Khare has been appointed as Prime Minister Narendra Modi's advisor. He has been appointed as Secretary to the Government of India for a period of two years.
Khare is a Bihar/Jharkhand cadre officer from the 1985 batch. In December 2019, he was appointed Secretary, Ministry of Education (Department of Higher Education).
On July 29, 2020, the cabinet approved the National Education Policy 2020, which he oversaw.
