The Delhi government inaugurated Atal Canteens across the national capital to provide nutritious meals at a nominal cost of ₹5, marking former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s 101st birth anniversary. Under the scheme, 100 canteens will serve about one lakh people daily, with the government bearing most of the cost. Each meal offers adequate calories and protein, aiming to ensure food security for workers, the urban poor and vulnerable groups.
