Cyclone Montha has intensified into a severe cyclonic storm and is likely to make landfall between Kakinada, Machilipatnam, and Kalingapatnam along the Andhra coast. Wind speeds are expected to reach 90–100 km/h, gusting up to 110 km/h. Authorities in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha have issued high alerts and evacuated over 50,000 people to safe shelters. The IMD has warned of heavy rainfall, strong winds, and high waves, while 22 NDRF teams have been deployed for relief and rescue operations.
