Indian Railways is rapidly modernising stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, aiming to transform them into integrated urban hubs. So far, 1,337 stations have been identified and 155 redeveloped, featuring upgraded waiting halls, platforms, FOBs/air concourses, Divyangjan facilities, OSOP kiosks and multimodal connectivity. With a ₹12,118 crore allocation for 2025–26, the scheme focuses on sustainable infrastructure and city-side integration, though brownfield challenges and heritage clearances continue to influence timelines.
